Cultural Heritage

The Experience

Immerse yourself in Africa’s living story

The Cultural Heritage Centre is not just a place to see — it is a place to feel, to learn, and to connect. Every gallery, museum, and workshop invites you deeper into the art, traditions, and creative spirit of the continent.

Art Gallery

The Art Gallery

One of Africa’s largest collections of contemporary and traditional art

At the heart of the Experience is one of Africa’s largest and most acclaimed collections of contemporary and traditional art. Spanning two expansive floors, the gallery features over 1,000 original works — paintings, sculptures, mixed-media pieces, and fine prints — by established and emerging artists from across the continent.

The collection is thoughtfully curated to showcase the breadth of African artistic expression, from bold Tingatinga canvases and intricate Makonde carvings to avant-garde installations that challenge and inspire.

The Jane Goodall Museum

A tribute to one of the world’s most beloved conservationists

The Jane Goodall Museum at the Cultural Heritage Centre is the only permanent exhibition of its kind outside of Europe. Created in partnership with the Jane Goodall Institute, the museum chronicles Dr. Goodall’s extraordinary journey from young researcher in the forests of Gombe to global advocate for wildlife and the environment.

Through photographs, personal artefacts, interactive displays, and documentary screenings, visitors gain a profound understanding of her groundbreaking work with chimpanzees and her enduring message: that every individual has the power to make a difference.

Tribal Ceremonies Museum

The Tribal Ceremonies Museum

A window into the sacred and celebratory traditions of East Africa

The Tribal Ceremonies Museum preserves and celebrates the rituals, regalia, and ceremonial objects of Tanzania’s indigenous peoples. Through carefully assembled displays, visitors discover the initiation rites, harvest celebrations, and spiritual practices that have shaped communities for centuries.

From elaborately beaded Maasai wedding collars to carved ritual staffs and painted ceremonial shields, each object represents a living tradition — one that continues to be practised, adapted, and honoured by its people today.

At the Cultural Heritage Centre, encounters happen naturally — with the Maasai elder who explains the meaning behind a beaded collar, the painter who walks you through his canvas, the jeweller who lets you hold a rough Tanzanite before it is cut.

More than a visit — a lasting connection

The Experience at the Cultural Heritage Centre is more than a visit — it is a journey into the soul of a continent. From the galleries to the workshops, from the museums to the quiet conversations that happen along the way, every moment is designed to leave you inspired, enriched, and connected to something enduring.
