Description

Every stone in The Vault is graded across five dimensions. Use this guide to understand what each specification means.

Clarity

Clarity describes the presence of internal characteristics (inclusions) and surface characteristics (blemishes) within the stone.

IF

Internally FlawlessNo inclusions visible under 10× magnification. The pinnacle of clarity — fewer than 1% of gemstones achieve this grade.
EC

Eye CleanNo inclusions visible to the naked eye. Exceptional brilliance in everyday wear.
SI

Slightly IncludedMinor inclusions visible under 10× magnification only. Excellent value with no visible compromise.
MI

Moderately IncludedInclusions visible under magnification. Rarely apparent to the naked eye in normal lighting.
HI

Heavily IncludedInclusions may be visible to the naked eye. Bold, character-rich stones with distinctive personality.
Colour Grade

Tanzanite is trichroic — it shows different colours from different angles. Grading reflects the dominant hue and its saturation intensity.

RARE

Rare — Collector GradeExceptional saturation and trichroic shift. Found in fewer than 1% of Tanzanite mined. The most coveted designation.
BVE

Bluish-Violet, ExcellentStrong blue primary with a violet secondary. Vivid, deeply saturated — the most commercially prized colour range.
VBE

Violet-Blue, ExcellentViolet primary, blue secondary. Rich and regal with excellent saturation and strong trichroism.
BVM

Bluish-Violet, MediumBlue-dominant with medium saturation. Balanced, wearable and beautiful in all light conditions.
VBM

Violet-Blue, MediumViolet-dominant, medium saturation. Warm and versatile — flattering in both day and evening wear.
BVP / VBP

Pale GradeLight saturation with a delicate, pastel appearance. Suits minimal settings and lighter jewellery styles.
Cut

The cut shape determines how light moves through the stone. Each silhouette carries a distinct character.

Round

The classic brilliant cut. 57–58 facets engineered to maximise light return and fire.
Oval

Elongates the hand. Retains more carat weight than a round of equal diameter.
Trillian

Triangular silhouette. Bold and architectural — emphasises colour saturation and trichroic shift.
Cushion

Rounded corners on a square or rectangular body. Vintage warmth with modern brilliance.
Marquise

Pointed ends with an elliptical body. Creates the illusion of greater size per carat.
Princess

Square with sharp corners. Modern and geometric with outstanding brilliance.
Teardrop

Pear-shaped hybrid of round and marquise. Elegant, distinctive, and naturally directional.
Carat Weight

One metric carat equals 0.2 grams. For Tanzanite, size dramatically affects rarity — the colour and clarity of a large stone intensify in ways a small stone cannot replicate.

1–5 ct

Fine Jewellery RangeIdeal for rings, pendants, and earrings. The best balance of size, quality, and everyday wearability.
5–50 ct

Statement StonesExceptional clarity and colour at this size command significant premiums. Reserved for bespoke and gallery-grade pieces.
50+ ct

Collector GradeTanzanite at this size is among the rarest gemstones on Earth. Investment-grade and museum-worthy.
Metal

The choice of metal shapes how Tanzanite’s colour reads in different light conditions.

Silver

Sterling 925Cool-toned. Accentuates the blue dimension of Tanzanite and creates a crisp, contemporary look.
Yellow Gold

18ct / 22ctWarm and classic. Intensifies the violet-blue saturation of deep-grade stones. The traditional pairing for fine Tanzanite.
White Gold

18ct Rhodium PlatedPlatinum-white finish. A neutral tone that lets the stone dominate.
Rose Gold

18ctWarm blush tone. Creates beautiful contrast with blue-dominant Tanzanite — romantic and distinctive.
