The Stone
Tsavorite is the green garnet discovered in Tanzania in 1967 and named after the Tsavo plains — a vivid green that needs no treatment, from the same hills that give us Tanzanite. Our gemologists grade every tsavorite on colour, clarity, cut and carat. Here is how to read them, and where this piece sits.

Tsavorite runs from light spring green to a deep, saturated emerald green; the finest is a vivid green with a touch of blue, without the yellow that dulls lesser stones.
Our gemologists grade clarity in three steps: Internally Flawless — nothing to find even under 10× magnification; Small inclusion — a trace only a loupe reveals; Medium inclusion — a natural feature you may find with the naked eye, in a stone chosen for its colour. Tsavorite is usually cleaner than emerald and needs no oil.
Tsavorite is brilliant and clean, so cutters favour rounds, ovals and cushions that show its fire; it needs no help from the cutter to glow.
Clean tsavorite above two carats is rare and above five exceptional; most fine stones are small, which makes a large one a true collector’s piece.
