The Stone
Diamond is carbon at its hardest — the most brilliant of all gems, graded on the four Cs the world over. Here is how our gemologists read a diamond, and where this piece sits.

White diamonds are graded from colourless down through faint yellow; the rarer the tint, the finer the stone. Fancy colours — yellow, pink, blue — are a world of their own.
Our gemologists grade clarity in three steps: Internally Flawless — nothing to find even under 10× magnification; Small inclusion — a trace only a loupe reveals; Medium inclusion — a natural feature you may find with the naked eye, in a stone chosen for its colour. Most inclusions in diamond are invisible to the eye; our grades tell you what a loupe would find.

Cut is where diamond earns its fire: the round brilliant’s 57 facets were designed to return the most light; fancy shapes trade a little brilliance for character.

Diamond prices step up at each carat mark, so a stone just under a full carat can be far better value than one just over it, at the same quality.
